Transporting timber in an environmentally friendly way
With about 5.6 million tons of timber transported annually, the RCG is the largest timber transporter in Central Europe. This saves the environment a lot of CO2.
Wood is a resource-conserving, renewable raw material that acts as a carbon reservoir, relieving our environment and additionally producing fresh air. Wood becomes truly sustainable when it is also transported in an environmentally friendly way. With 5.6 million tonnes of timber transported annually, the RCG is the largest timber transporter in Central Europe. The most important Austrian wood and paper industries rely on our environmentally friendly transports by rail.
5.6 million tons of wood transported by environmentally friendly rail save the environment 109,616 tons of CO2* in international freight traffic each year. Transporting this amount by road would mean 4.6 times more CO2 emissions.
Our own team specialises in the transport of wood and paper and has the right solution for every requirement in the industry. Own wagons allow the transport of round timber as well as sawn timber and in containers. We rely on a high surface density and an attractive market offer of more than 400 control points and 125 timber and core network stations for national and international rail transport. The main timber transports are mainly on domestic routes and are imports from the Czech Republic and Germany. In addition, we handle exports to Italy and the port of Koper.
