3 Questions for Patrick Gamsjäger

08. 06. 2022

Every day, Patrick works on implementing the different requirements of MIKE Tracking in the interests of the customer, in order to drive forward digitalisation within the Rail Cargo Group.

What is special about your job/profession?

I have been working in the SDy Support Team since October 2021 and was given the role of Business Owner for MIKE Tracking. Since day one, I am continuously learning something new. Previously, I worked as an order data processor on the operational side. This is where I learned how the railway "works". Now I'm more or less on the other side and figuring out what demands are being placed on new applications in terms of digitalisation. It is exciting to think across departments, as each segment has its own requirements for a shipment tracking tool. It is not always easy to reconcile these interests, but together as a team we succeed in doing so for the benefit of our customers. I am proud to be able to contribute to shaping innovation in the Rail Cargo Group to a certain extent.

What does a working day look like for you?

On the one hand, my working day consists of appointments in which I coordinate the requirements of our customers and colleagues for the application. These topics are taken up together with the development team and integrated into MIKE Tracking as best as possible. It is important to prioritise individual topics.

On the other hand, I analyse current consignment data when necessary in order to continuously improve the data quality in the application.

Can you tell us more about your role and tasks in the MIKE project?

My role as Business Owner is to be the interface between the business department and the cargo1492 team. In doing so, it is necessary to understand the requirements of the department and to implement them as innovatively as possible together with cargo1492. Subsequently, the individual topics are implemented according to a previously defined priority in order to make the results available to our customers as quickly as possible.
