Polona Lukežič is an assistant at the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group. At RCG in Slovenia, Polona and her colleagues facilitate smooth and environmentally friendly rail freight transport services. They make a huge contribution to reaching Europe’s CO2 targets and climate targets.

In this series, we would like to show you how staff at the RCG handle the topic of sustainability at work, because even little lifestyle changes can have a big impact.

“Sustainability is important to me because it’s our responsibility to think of the future generations and make sure they will be able to enjoy a healthy, wholesome life,” Polona says. With her motivation and commitment, she also wants to inspire others to take sustainability seriously and incorporate it into their daily lives.

At the office, Polona and her colleagues make sure they turn off the air conditioning when they don’t need it. Tiny changes, like switching off the lights when you leave a room or separating waste often make a big difference.

For Polona, it’s important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. As a certified and licensed personal trainer, sport also plays an important role in her life. She combines sport and sustainability very well in her daily life by taking her bike almost every day. Thanks to her training, Polona can also give her colleagues a lot of tips and tricks when it comes to exercise and sustainable food choices.
