Noah´s Train is going around the world

10. 10. 2019

It began at the COP24 global climate conference a year ago with two containers in Katowice, Poland. Today it is a strong European movement and the longest mobile artwork. On Friday, October 11, Noah's Train, our climate ambassador, will reach the port of Rotterdam, where we are hosting a big anniversary event in its honour.

Leading European rail freight companies as well as international interest associations and the RFF initiative have only one goal: to drastically reduce the negative impact of freight transport on our planet. For this reason, Noah´s Train was sent on a journey through Europe as a strong voice for environmental protection. We are getting ready to receive Noah´s Train at the Port of Rotterdam. The preparations for the anniversary event are in full swing.

3, 2, 1 go!

A warm welcome to the CEOs of international freight transport companies, industry leaders, stakeholders, political decision-makers as well as the media and guests of the anniversary event. Clemens Först, CEO of Rail Cargo Group, and Geert Pauwels, CEO of Lineas, will speak in their presentation about the importance of taking measures today, increasing the share of rail freight traffic and shifting freight away from road to environmentally friendly rail. Choosing an optimal transport mix is the ne plus ultra in the logistics of the future.

For the first time, competitors in the highly competitive rail freight market are working together on one vision. Because everyone knows that modal shift can only work when we work together.

The CEOs of international rail transport companies will discuss why it is so important for our climate to increase rail transport to 30 percent by 2030 in the panel discussion.

The participants on the podium are:
Pierre Timmermans, Sales- and Marketing Director DB Cargo
Karl Schauer, Manager, LKW Walter
Jean-Paul van Munster, CEO, Rotterdam Portholding
Peter Vanovermeire, CEO, Railtraxx
Nicolas Perrin, CEO, SBB Cargo
Mark Jansen, Leiter Operations, Hupac
John Voppen, CEO, Prorail
Arnoud de Rade, Managing Director, Rotterdam Rail Feeding

Welcome Noah´s Train

Allard Castelein, host and CEO Port of Rotterdam, the largest seaport in Europe, will welcome the guests. In 2018, the Port handled approximately 467 million tonnes of goods. And RCG was a major player in this arena.

Vera Tax, Member of the European Parliament, is talking about the importance of rail within the EU. Kees van den Burg, Director General, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands, Hans Augusteijn, Global Head of Logistics and Services Execution, Maersk and Jan Buijze, Managing Director APM Terminals Maasvlakte II, are applaud strong European initiatives, such as those of the Coalition Rail Freight Forward (RFF) that draw attention to environmental protection.

The Dutch container is unveiled and Noah´s Train is welcomed at the Rotterdam port area.

Noah's Train, our climate ambassador, will be part at the global UN climate conference COP25 in Madrid. With it, its message is now going around the world: to increase rail transports to 30 percent by 2030 and thus protect our climate.
