Every single year, RCG employees work tirelessly, even on public holidays, to ensure that customers’ goods reach their destinations safely and on time.
RCG’s trains never stand still, and nor do the employees: while customers were celebrating the Christmas holidays with their nearest and dearest, many RCG workers were beavering away. They always kept the flow of goods going, day and night – even at Christmas.
For example, meet Florian (25 years old) and Sabrina (26): the pair are trained forwarding clerks and have been working for Rail Cargo Group as logistics agents for almost ten years.
At their site in Bludenz, Vorarlberg, they make sure that every customer gets their wagons on time. They prepare purchase orders and pick-up orders for shunting. Tasks like disposing of empty wagons and monitoring trains fall under Florian and Sabrina’s duties too.
And if a wagon is ever damaged, they start the process of getting it repaired. They inform the customers and, if the wagon can’t be fixed straight away, they quickly arrange for the goods to be reloaded. Even at the very quietest time of year, there’s still plenty of hustle and bustle at our warehouses and shunting stations.
The thing they like best about their job is how varied it is: “We’re happy that we don’t just sit in an office all day; sometimes we get to work in the field. And we also really value our colleagues: we’re a great team!” says Sabrina. Of course, being surrounded by friendly colleagues makes it much easier to swap your living room for your workplace on Christmas Eve.
