Our roof-less freight wagons are particularly suitable for transporting goods that are not sensitive to the weather – in our open wagons we reliably transport coal, charcoal, ore, sand, gravel, used glass, steel, scrap and wood to their destination.
The RCG has several types of open freight wagons. While the open wagon of the standard type “E” is particularly suitable for transporting steel, scrap and wood, the open wagon of the special type “F” transports all kinds of bulk goods that are not affected by the weather. Both E and F wagons are divided into different types – such as Eanos, Eaos, Fcs, Fals or Falns-x – and differ accordingly in dimensions, design and performance.
E-Wagon
E-wagons have at least one side door, are about 15 meters long and carry a maximum of 66 tons depending on the route classification.
The characteristics of a freight train can be identified from the generic name, by the example EANOS:
E = Open top railcar with high sidewalls
a = with four axes
n = allowable load 60 tonns
o = tipping to the front is forbidden
s = In circulation according to the European Technical Specification for Interoperability, appendix B, standard s (max speed 100 km/h)
F-wagons have a length of around 14 metres and a load capacity of up to 64.5 tonnes depending on the track category, they also have side flaps for self-discharge.
Here you can see the self-discharge of an F wagon, which unloads thousands of pieces of glass to gravity after opening all the side flaps.
