The RCG Bike Challenge 2019

The race around Istria

The RCG Bike Challenge enters its third round and takes place this year just in time for the European Mobility Week from 19-22 September.

This time 13 motivated RCG employees are taking part not only to explore the Croatian coast off the beaten tourist track, but also to face the challenge of riding 400 km in 4 days on a bike.

This year the route leads them from Koper in Slovenia via Opatija, the beautiful Croatian coastal town on the Adriatic, to Pula, at the tip of the Croatian peninsula Istria and back to Koper.

Right to the point

In order that the athletes feel like professionals on the whole tour, they are accompanied by their own support team with a top equipped service vehicle. At 100 kilometres or more a day, one might get hungry - surprisingly. In addition, the good back-up ensures that any minor technical incidents cannot stop our athletes.

The RCG Bike Challenge was launched in 2017. At that time it went from the RCC Germany in Wolnzach near Munich to Vienna. In 2018 the route led from Salzburg via the Großglockner to Trieste in Italy. This year's route will not be any less than the past ones, but convince yourself on our blog...

Let's go!

It is clear that sport in general is beneficial to health. In addition, however, cycling in a team makes you friends with your colleagues, which is why the Bike Challenge is already entering its third round this year. We are eager to see which route it will be in 2020. Let's go!

Pozdrav Hrvatska!

Thanks to our sponsor the ÖBB health management.

Do you also want to be part of it? No problem! Follow the cyclists online on their way and join them on the blog!

At 10.30 a.m. it all started, our international biker team consisting of Austrians, Italians, Croats, Slovenes as well as some Hungarians set off.

Today they have an 85km long route and 1700m altitude difference ahead - from Koper via Buzet, Učka, Ičići to the destination Opatija.

The weather looks good, the coffee has tasted good and the athletes give everything!

A few more impressions...

At 16 o'clock the bikers arrived in Učka. Now they continue their way to Opatija - 20km and about one hour. Then it's done for today.

Day 2 of the Challenge starts at 10 am. After the athletes covered 85 km yesterday, it is getting even more intense today. There are about 110 km on the plan, 1360 meters of altitude difference and a wonderful route from Opatija via Pula via Šišan, Ližnjan, Medulin and back to Pula.

Let's go!

Dream weather, dream landscapes - exploring Croatia by bike is a true insider tip.

Day 3: The weather is great, the mood of the cyclists is even better. They are now heading to Vrsar and then to Novigrad alongside the coast. In total they have to cover 120 km and 1283 in altitude today.

That was the RCG Bike Challenge 2019

We are already looking forward to next year!
