Our on-site logistics services, that are part of our digital service portfolio SmartLINK, bring our expertise “on-site”, directly to our customers.
Good preparation is half the victory. That’s why we step in to support our customers on-site at their premises. Our team of experts takes care of all the logistical and logistics-related jobs “on-site”. We provide both the staff and the equipment that are required to meet our customers’ needs.
Wagon shunting is one of the most important parts of on-site logistics. From placing an order, pick-up and train formation to freight wagon inspections, we take care of the whole shunting process right on our customers’ business premises. We’re also the experts when it comes to emptying and filling wagons and trucks. Safety is always our top priority – especially when it comes to handling dangerous goods. Our staff have many years of experience and take regular training courses so they know all the requirements inside out. On request, we’ll even take care of managing rail operations at the nearest industrial siding and carry out servicing, maintenance work and we train staff on site.
Our Krems site proves just how high-performance our on-site logistics services are. Here we’ve got three shunting vehicles that can carry heavy trains up to 1,800 tonnes in weight. We load and unload around 7,000 wagons a year here. It’s not just big volumes of freight that get sent off, however – our experts also send sample shipments all over the world. The legal standards for packaging must be met to make sure the tiniest, fragile shipments reach customers safe and sound. The team also makes sure around 30,000 mail items sent to and from the chemical park get delivered. Organising waste disposal is also part of our range of services at Krems, and this requires a wealth of specialist knowledge in chemicals.
Our staff are available on site for our customers round the clock, so factory security is also part of the services offered by Rail Cargo Logistics Krems. Our team of supervisors are the first point of contact outside normal working hours for emergency personnel and technical issues, and are in charge of patrols, checking utility installations, weighing and resetting alarms. As active members of the fire brigade, they also have the necessary qualifications for this.
